May is Asian Heritage Month

During the month of May, we acknowledge the long and rich history of Asian Canadians and their contributions to Saskatchewan and Canada. Many Saskatchewan residents are of Asian heritage, including but not limited to, Afghani, Bangladeshi, Chinese, Indian, Iraqi, Japanese, Karen, Korean, Laotian, Nepalese, Pakistani, Philippino and Vietnamese. The 2016 Census will provide up to date and accurate stats on the Asian population in Canada.

Asian cultures help to strengthen Canada socially, politically and economically in many ways. Asian Heritage month is one way to celebrate their contributions to our country.
