3rd Annual Saskatchewan Afrocentric Symposium

Truly Alive Youth and Family Foundation Inc is thrilled to announce its 3^rd Annual Saskatchewan Afrocentric Symposium, being organized as part of series of events in commemoration of 2026 Black History.

Date: Wednesday February 11 – Friday February 13, 2026

Venue: Saskatoon Inn and Conference Center | 2002 Airport Dr, Saskatoon.

The Afrocentric Symposium is a free of cost professional development and heritage education opportunity expected to bring together no less than 200 attendees including community leaders, academics and educators, Government-level representatives, as well as members of intersectionality organizations sharing insights and learning about the rich legacy and achievements of Black people throughout Canadian history, particularly here in Saskatchewan.

We invite 5 or more attendees per organizations and community groups to provide robust learning opportunity to your staff and members.

**accommodation and transportation subsidy options may be provided to attendees from outside the city of Saskatoon, and those coming from out of Saskatchewan province on case-based option**

What To Expect at the Symposium

Day 1 of the symposium (Wednesday February 11, 2026) is designated for Discover Saskatoon Adventure—an evening of exploration and discovery visiting Saskatoon’s historic and heritage sites. Participants will engage in an interactive Tipi Teachings session guided by Indigenous knowledge, exploring Plains Cree perspectives on holistic well-being, social roles, worldview, and women’s teachings through hands-on learning. This experience offers meaningful insight into Indigenous health, culture, and community values and aligns with Social Studies and Health Education principles.

Days 2-3 of the symposium will engage participants in carefully themed and impactful presentations, panel discussions, and plenary sessions to equip attendees with actionable solutions towards personal/professional betterment, and essential for making real impact in the life of the community.

Across the three days of the 3^rd Annual Saskatchewan Afrocentric Symposium, attendees will have unique opportunities to connect and network with changemakers, policy experts, intersectionality agency representatives, government-level officials, community leaders, and visionaries across Saskatchewan and nationally. Also featuring at the Symposium is Afrocentric Marketplace and Poster Presentations (academic posters and photovoice presentation) showcasing the tapestry of Afro-Caribbean culture and art including crafts, clothing, jewelry, and more from Black vendors across Saskatchewan.
