Multicultural Café: Sharing Traditions Through Food
The Azerbaijani Cultural Association of Regina (AzCAR) is excited to launch their new Multicultural Café: Sharing Traditions Through Food series with the support of Multicultural Council of Saskatchewan!
Join them on July 12, 2026 for the first event in this unique series, where they will explore how food connects cultures across borders. At each gathering, they will focus on a traditional dish that exists in different countries and cultures, discovering both the similarities that unite us and the unique traditions that make each version special.
Their first event is dedicated to one of the most beloved desserts of the region – baklava.
They are delighted to welcome a special guest from the Iranian community, who will share the secrets of preparing authentic Iranian baklava, its history, and the traditions surrounding this cherished treat. Participants will also learn about Azerbaijani baklava, comparing ingredients, preparation methods, and cultural significance. They will also have a chance to taste both versions of delicious baklava.
Every recipe tells a story, and every shared meal creates a connection. They look forward to beginning this delicious cultural journey with you!
