Description

In June, Canadians will celebrate National Indigenous History Month to honour the history, heritage and diversity of Indigenous peoples in Canada. This year the Lifelong Learning Centre has planned a series of four presentations so you can learn about the contributions First Nations, Inuit and Métis people have made in shaping Canada.
Please note: Your registration is valid for all four dates listed below. You do not need to register for each presentation date separately.
These presentations are being held on Fridays in June from 10:30-11:30 am.

June 3 How We Acquired the Dreamcatcher with Lynn Cote

June 10 A Bird’s Eye View! An Indigenous Journalist’s Journey with Nelson Bird

June 17 Challenges & Rewards as SK’s First Female Metis MLA with Betty Nippi-Albright

June 24 Being a Good Ancestor with Lori Campbell, UR Associate VP Indigenous Engagement
Elders teach us that it is important to share our stories because stories of our past are connected to stories of the present. Indigenous peoples believe in Seven Generations thinking. Seven generations ago our ancestors were dreaming of us. Are we dreaming of the seventh generation that will come after us? Are we being good ancestors?

These presentations will be offered via Zoom. You need to have a computer or tablet with a microphone and high-speed internet connection to take this course. Having a device with a camera is not required but is recommended.
