Celebrating Indigenous Peoples History Month by amplifying Indigenous Inspiration with our inaugural Nahanee Creative Speaker Series! Virtual 1-hour Interactive Introductions throughout June 2021.

Guest Speaker: Latash Maurice Nahanee, Squamish

Join Ta7talíya Michelle Nahanee in conversation with her uncle, Squamish Elder Latash Maurice Nahanee, talking about their lineage of organizers & changemakers and their contributions to cultural resurgence in labour, law, education, media and performing arts.

This hour-long interactive introduction is hosted on the shared territory of the Musqueam, Squamish and Tsleil-Waututh Peoples to:

  • share stories & teachings of Indigenous resistance & resurgence

  • highlight decolonial achievements from four generations of the Nahanee family

  • amplify the legacy of changemakers including William Nahanee Sr who founded the Bows & Arrows Union in 1906 & Teressa Nahanee who drafted the legislation for Bill C-31 and helped change gender-biased Canadian Law.
