In recognition of the International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination (March 21, 2021), this one-hour webinar will explore our cultural identity with an illustration of culture as an iceberg and how it impacts our intercultural competence. Together we will examine biases and perceptions and illustrate these with examples of stereotypes and generalizations and how those shape the lens through which we see the people around us and the world. Cultural dimensions and cultural norms are areas in which we can predict that we are likely to find differences that are influenced by an individual’s culture.
Hosted by the Saskatchewan Parks and Recreation Association in partnership with the Multicultural Council of Saskatchewan (MCoS). This event is free to attend for SPRA members.
Strategies for enhancing curiosity and responding to differences will be offered. We will utilize a framework for working through intercultural misunderstandings and conflicts to take informed action. Facilitated by Kristin Enns-Kavanagh.
Registration closes March 17, 2021 at 5:00 p.m.
