From 1 – 2:30 PM (CST), please join us as we celebrate the launch of African Canadian Black History Month, led by Carol LaFayette-Boyd with the Saskatchewan African Canadian Heritage Museum Inc. Presented in the Shumiatcher Theatre (livestreamed to our website and social media) this presentation will feature greetings brought by Her Worship Sandra Masters, Mayor of the City of Regina; the Honourable Laura Ross, Minister of Parks, Culture and Sport and Minister responsible for the Status of Women; Mr. Trent Wotherspoon, MLA; Rhonda Rosenberg, Executive Director of the Multicultural Council of Saskatchewan; Wendy Fitch, Executive Director of the Museums Association of Saskatchewan; SaskCulture; and Crystal Mowry, Director of Programs with the MacKenzie Art Gallery. Following this will be a presentation from our Associate Curator, Tak Pham, as he highlights our latest exhibition: Dawit L. Petros: Spazio Disponibile, on view now at the MacKenzie in the Sim Gallery! The presentation will highlight the stories and history in this Dawit Petros exhibition, and it’s connection to the prairie context with a Q & A session to follow.
