As a Black-led charity, the commemoration of Black History Month is integral to the mandate of Truly Alive Youth and Family Foundation Inc (TAYFFI) – showcasing Black excellence and creating awareness on the historic and ongoing contributions of people of African Descent and Black Canadians in the Greater Saskatoon Metropolis, and Canada from coast-to-coast-to-coast.
Drawing inspiration from the Government of Canada’s theme, “Ours To Tell ,” TAYFFI’s theme of “Our History, Ours To Tell” centres on the three pillars of Resistance, Resilience, and Resolution which highlights the importance of telling Black History in its richness vis-à-vis the tenacity of our forebearers in resisting oppression, the resilience of Black trailblazers overcoming odds and breaking barriers, and the resolve of the people of African Descent and Black Canadians to protect their identity, preserve their heritage, and tell their story -themselves- from generations to generations.
