Saskatchewan Multicultural Leadership Award for outstanding contributions to multiculturalism in Saskatchewan (formerly known as the Betty Szuchewycz Award). Priority will be given to nominees who have demonstrated work in all five streams of multicultural work and impact resulting from sustained periods of commitment in their contributions. Recipients are people who champion (promote, share, live…) multicultural values. Saskatchewan communities must be the primary focus of the nominee’s activities. Please complete this form and attach letters of reference and other supporting documents to indicate the scope and impact of their work. ($500 award sponsored by Jim and Michelle Braun. Tax receipt will be issued if donated to a registered charity.)
Multicultural Youth Leadership Award for significant multicultural youth leadership contributions from people 29 years and under. Priority will be given to nominees who have demonstrated work in all five streams of multicultural work resulting in impact. Saskatchewan communities must be the primary focus of the nominee’s activities. Please complete this form and attach letters of reference and other supporting documents to indicate the scope and impact of their work. (The Saskatchewan Government and General Employees’ Union (SGEU) is partnering with MCoS to present this award and $500.)

Eligibility:

Living Saskatchewan residents are eligible for nomination with the following exceptions:
• Anyone who is currently serving as an MCoS Board member, committee member or staff or has served in the past two (2) years is not eligible
• Immediate family members of such board members or staff are not eligible
• People holding or seeking political office are not eligible
• Members of the judiciary who still hold office are not eligible
• Any past recipients of any MCoS award cannot be nominated for the same award.

Multicultural Streams:
MCoS has articulated five streams of multicultural work; they flow from multicultural values. They are not mutually exclusive; they often overlap and support one another, but understanding them as distinct helps to see how multiculturalism enriches Saskatchewan. Please describe the nominee’s contributions in each applicable stream.
The Recognition Committee will give priority to candidates with contributions in multiple streams. Each stream will be evaluated out of 5 points. In order to have your nominee assessed fairly: Include detail of contributions.

In order to have your nomination assessed fairly:
• Please list the organizations you are involved with and reference these in describing your impact

• Check all appropriate boxes

• Impact:
o Demonstrate the difference that your efforts have made in each stream.
o It may be helpful to select different examples for each stream to highlight the breadth of your contributions.
o Be sure to include information on all of your involvement and how it has made a difference. Important details help the committee to compare applications.
o Include examples of impact on ethnocultural, multicultural, Indigenous, and mainstream communities (for youth nominees, also consider in school and outside of school).
o Impact statements may be written as bullet points or paragraphs
o Impact statements should be a maximum of 200 words each

• Leadership: The information provided should connect and add to previous responses to illustrate your contributions. This section should be a maximum of 200 words.

• Please list other awards and honours received. You are welcome to attach a minimum of two (2) and a maximum of five (5) supporting documents. These may include a maximum of two of each of reference letters, media stories, reports, articles, etc. (5 points)

• Awards will be presented on Saturday, November 21, 2026 at Wanuskewin Heritage Park in Saskatoon.
• MCoS expects all nominees and nominators to be present at the event. A letter will be sent to each nominee and nominator.

• All eligible nominees will be recognized and celebrated at Honours. Only selected recipients will receive awards.
